As an Astronomy Instructor at camp, you’ll inspire curiosity by helping campers discover constellations, identify planets and understand the science behind what they see above them.
Many camps are located in areas with minimal light pollution, providing incredible opportunities for stargazing. You’ll lead evening observation sessions, teach campers how to use telescopes and binoculars, and bring astronomy to life through fun, interactive activities and experiments.
You should have a genuine passion for astronomy and a good understanding of the night sky, with the confidence to share your knowledge in an engaging and accessible way. Camp directors are looking for enthusiastic, patient and inquisitive individuals who can inspire campers to explore the universe while creating a fun and memorable learning experience.
Your role will include the teaching of:
Teaching campers how to identify constellations, planets and other celestial objects
Leading evening stargazing sessions using telescopes, binoculars and the naked eye
Explaining basic astronomy concepts such as the solar system, stars, galaxies and space exploration
Organising fun, hands-on activities and experiments that bring astronomy to life
Inspiring campers to explore the night sky while developing curiosity about space and science
Preferred Experience or Qualifications:
A strong knowledge of astronomy, constellations and the night sky
Experience using telescopes or leading astronomy-related activities

As a Rocketry Instructor at camp, you’ll inspire the next generation of engineers by teaching campers how rockets work and bringing STEM learning to life through hands-on projects.
You’ll spend your summer guiding campers as they design, build and safely launch model rockets while introducing them to the principles of aerodynamics, propulsion and flight. Whether leading small group workshops or exciting launch days, you’ll create engaging sessions that encourage teamwork, problem-solving and curiosity.
You should have a passion for science, engineering or rocketry and feel confident explaining concepts in a fun and accessible way. Camp directors are looking for enthusiastic, safety-conscious and engaging individuals who can inspire campers while making STEM exciting and memorable.

Teaching campers the fundamentals of rocketry, flight and aerodynamics
Guiding campers as they design, build and safely launch model rockets
Explaining the science behind propulsion, forces and engineering principles

Preferred Experience or Qualifications:
Studying Engineering, Physics, Aerospace or another relevant STEM subject (or completed first year of a relevant degree)
Practical experience building, launching or working with model rockets or STEM projects

As a Game Designer, your job will be to help immerse campers into the extremely popular world of game design.

As a Game Designer, your job will be to help immerse campers into the extremely popular world of game design.
Most campers will be highly familiar with certain games consoles such as the Xbox, Playstation or Nintendo, or download and play games on an iPad or iPhone, but they may not have ever considered how fun and rewarding it can be to design their own game to play.
Your role will include the teaching of:
Creating hands-on learning exercises and supervised workshops to help campers develop an original game concept
Exploring different camera types with campers (digital and film)
Playing, deconstructing, and analyzing hit games
Helping campers work towards a playable demo and launch of their video game
Preferred Experience or Qualifications:
Game development, including gameplay, environment, storyline, characters

Scripting
Dependent on camp, they may ask if you have any examples of the games you have designed and for what platforms (PC/Mac/iPhone)
Web Design

Taking on a role as Web Designer at camp is perfect for the individual looking for a career in IT or computer science and what better way to gain invaluable experience for your CV than to do it abroad in the US.
You will need to have the knowledge and experience so you are able to pass on skills to campers looking to create their own website on a topic of their choice. Experience in teaching others is not essential, as long as you are clear and campers of all abilities understand your instructions.
General camp types will be on the lookout for Web Designers or you may be hired to work at a specialist web design and coding summer camp. It really depends on a camps specific staffing requirements.
Your role will include the teaching of:
Teaching campers the basics and encourage them to be creative and unrestricted in their design ideas.
Teaching campers about coding, using tools such as HTML, CSS, Javascript.
Discuss with campers different website layouts, content production, and elements of graphic design.
